Q. How soon after the funeral should the family make a decision about the placement/scattering of ashes?

How soon after the funeral should the family make a decision about the placement of ashes?

It is Manning Funerals’ opinion that families should not rush into doing this. Sometimes family members may gain solace from having the ashes of their loved one at home for a while before making a decision. The scattering of ashes should only occur if the family have carefully thought this issue through and are in agreement. Some families choose to place the ashes somewhere on a first anniversary or perhaps a birthday or special occasion, and this gives the family a purpose to come together again to celebrate that person’s life.
