Professional fees

Include the funeral director’s fees for their professional services, their 24 hour availability and facilitation of funeral arrangements, viewings at the Manning Funeral Home chapel, hearse hire on the day of the funeral service and a transfer fee which covers the transportation of the deceased from the place of death to the funeral home for preparation.

Casket

The cost of the casket will vary from the most basic MDF casket; an eco-friendly casket; to a solid timber or American “Batesville” casket. View our range of caskets.

Disbursements

Optional disbursements which may include embalming, basic mortuary care, cremation or burial costs, flowers, catering, officiant, newspaper notices, an urn for the placement of ashes, orders of service (leaflets for the funeral service), death certificate and doctors’ medical papers, and other optional extras.

IMPORTANT NOTE

When obtaining a price estimate (and all funeral directors should be prepared to do this prior to them being engaged), it is crucial that a family compares the exact scenario. Some funeral homes charge extra for evening or weekend work, or even charge an additional transfer fee every time the deceased is moved. Manning Funerals do not impose a surcharge on their Professional Services Fee if it is after hours or during a weekend.

Cost alone should not be the only deciding factor when choosing a funeral director, but rather the funeral care afforded to the bereaved family and the deceased. If possible it is worth meeting a funeral director first, before making your decision, so you may know in your own mind that this is the person you feel confident entrusting your family member to.
